Today I had the pleasure of photography baby Jonah.  I had a great time with this adorable little man.  I could photograph him all day long.  Here are just a few of the shots I got.

Union Cross Fire Department

Last October, I had the pleasure of photographing the Firefighters of The Union Cross Fire Department.  The newly formed Ladies Auxiliary had the idea of creating a calendar and asked that I shoot the portraits for the calendar.  Of course my response was YES!  I would've been crazy not too!

I spent two days out at the Fire Department and many hours going through the over 300 portraits I took of the guys, thus allowing them to put together their 2011 Union Cross Fire Department Calendar! This was an incredible opportunity for me and I'd like to thank everyone at the Union Cross Fire Department for allowing me to come into your "home".

2010 North Carolina Photography Competition

Back in July, I posted an image of a cute, photogenic little toad I found in my yard.  Well, a few days after I took the picture, I was taking my lunch at work, I decided to "Google" photography contests because I thought he was contest worthy.  Well, my search was successful and I located a Photography Competition called the 2010 North Carolina Wildlife Photography Competition held by NC Wildlife Magazine and submitted the photo.  You can see the photo here:  First Place Winner - Amphibian/Reptiles

I must say, because I submitted the photo in July, by the time October came around I completely forgot about my submission.  Well...good news, I was notified at the end of October that my photo was a finalist in the competition in the Reptile/Amphibian category.  I was completely shocked and extremely exited.  Approximately a week later, I was informed that my toad portrait was the first place winner in the Reptile/Amphibian category.  I was elated at this news!  It was a great accomplishment.  This was the first photography competition I entered and I won first place!

So, with the win comes a gift card, a check, copies of the magazine the toad will be published in, a display of the toad at the Museum of Natural Science in Raleigh, NC and a large print of the photograph.  Along with the exposure from the publishing came a phone call from my local newspaper.  The local newspaper ran a little article about my win in the competition.

That was an incredible achievement and I am a very proud photographer!

Washington D.C.

In September I was lucky enough to take my very first trip to Washington D.C.  It was a great time!  I was able to spend time with a good friend and also get some fabulous pictures while taking in some of Countries history.

Day one was spent driving to DC.  Once I arrived, I decided I wanted to go to Arlington National Cemetary.   Here are a few of the pics:

An amazingly breathtaking place to visit, words cannot express how overpowering and emotional Arlington is to visit.

Day 2 was spent in DC with my friend Nicole.  We did quite a bit of sight seeing.  Here are some of the shots:

The Metro.. I thought this was the coolest!

The trip to D.C. was amazing, I had a great time.  I plan on returning in April to see the Cherry Blossoms!

Stay tuned for more pictures from my 5 month hiatus :)

Lost, but now I'm found...

Sorry for the delay in posting, I can't believe it's been almost 5 months.  Where did the time go!  Well over the last 5 months I've been working at my full-time job while also trying to work my way through the Professional Photographers course i'm taking through The New York Institute of Photography.  My goal this year is to blog more, even if it's just to post some pictures that I take along the way.  I don't want to lose sight of what this blog is about, my love for photography!

The last 5 months have been amazing.. posts will follow! A little spoiler..... Photography Contest, Washington D.C., and Firemen!
